Mom and Dad have been feeding all kinds of solids lately. Kind of backs us up. So, my question is...

WHO's

GOT

THE

*$@!%!*&

EX-LAX?
Bag 'o Lucy

Mom is getting ready for a girls weekend with Auntie Erin, Auntie Kristy, Auntie Melissa and all of their Moms. She was packing so frantically that she packed me too! She wanted to mention a few things that our readers might enjoy:

*Marigny and Lucy both get up on their hands and knees and rock.

*They both lift one leg and balance when on their hands and knees, it looks like they are doing yoga.

*Lucy and Marigny both say mamamamama, especially when they are upset.

*Lucy started saying baba yesterday, which is one step closer to dada, much to Nick's delight!

*Marigny and Lucy follow objects that pass by behind them. We think this is just amazing! We were swinging on the porch and a man on a bicycle went by (behind them because they were facing the house) and they both knew where to look after he passed out of their eyesight. Just think about how much a baby has to learn to do that!! Wow!

*They are both napping right now so I am going to get a nap in too.

Oh what was it that Mom said to mention today......think, Marigny, think........

I believe it is Great Aunt Beth's Birthday....

Yes, it is!! Papa Bear confirmed the rumor to be true. Happy Birthday GAB! xo Marigny and Lucy
On Saturday we went over to our friend Marin's house to play. She is the proud owner of a sweet swing set that even has a swing made just for twins! That is me, Marigny, sucking on my finger. I think we need a swing like this for our "yard".

I was enjoying the swing until I started chewing on the green bucket seat and it was a little to hard for my mouth. You see, my teeth are still coming in so I can get a bit testy from time to time.-Lucy

But Marin came over to console me. She sure knows how to make a baby feel better. Good thing because she will be a big sister sometime in the next 2 weeks! Thanks for a great evening Marin! Tell your folks "thanks" from our folks. xo L & M

So far, Monday has been the best day this week! We took a little walk up to the post office to pick up a package and aloha! Straight from Hawaii were the tiniest bikinis we had ever seen! Just the right size for babies......

Hey Mom! Pass the sunscreen! -Marigny

Dad said these suits just "crack" him up! -Lucy

Thank you Auntie Malia, Uncle Stew, Bella and Lola! xoxo Marigny and Lucy

HAT BLOGGING!!!

Today is a very special day for us. Do you know why? Well, this is what we look like today.......
Marigny left, Lucy right
And this is what we looked like one year ago, the day our Mom and Dad found out there were two of us in Mom's belly.....
Marigny left, Lucy right
It's me,Lucy Bear, sleeping on my tummy, knees tucked under, tooshie in the air. I still sleep like this.

And me, Yaya Marigny, fretting my itty-bitty hands. I still wrings my hands together, it is how I self-soothe.
Just look at at the growing we did in one year! Oh right, this is a hat blog. Our hats were supposed to be for Easter but there was too much snow. No snow today! All the windows are open in our house and it is 63*F. We do have one more important announcement, Mom and Dad moved out of our room, finally. Don't say anything to them but we were wondering if they were ever going to leave! Rest assured (or no rest for Mom and Dad), we will cry and scream tonight to keep them on their toes.

xoxo Yaya Marigny and Lucy Bear

Our house is getting a little crowded with Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Adelman and Twins living here too...... We opened the package, even though it was not technically addressed to us and guess what?

We got some cozy blankets that are perfect for spring!
Hmmmmm, something crocheted from the East Coast........

Maybe they better relocate to the Midwest.....

Thanks you Ruth B. for the snuggily throws!

My sister Lucy has been so fussy today that Mom can't put her down. So, Dad held me while he worked. I "helped" Dad for a while and then I wrote my first letter! Enjoy! xo Marigny

What the *&%@?

What is this floppy thing on your head Lucy?

It's my Easter hat Marigny! You have one on your head too you know....
Must be from our Great Aunt Karen. Thank you GAK!!

Now we have to settle in and watch our new movie, Happy Feet (thanks GUJ), and eat jelly beans. If it were nice out we could fly our new kites from Papa Bear and Grandma but no, it is as white as Christmas here in the north woods. Happy Easter everyone!!

Our new favorite food is avocado. It leaves our cheeks silky and smooth even after our faces are washed. Rumor has it that sweet potato is our next new food. Other noteworthy news:
*Our bald spots have filled in.
*Lucy says Mama, but does she know what it means?
*Marigny has been heard saying "dah"
*Our breath is getting its own distinct sweet smell.
*We took our first TOGETHER bath last night. Mom held us while Dad did the washing. Mom said it was like trying to hold two flopping fish at the same time. They are still mopping up the floor.
*We got mentioned by name on a bigtime blog, "Skippy, the Bush Kangaroo" (http://xnerg.blogspot.com/search/label/say%20hello), thanks to Papa Bear's blog (www.billycreek.blogspot.com)
When do we get ice cream?-Lucy

Yeah, when do we get the Cherry Garcia?-Marigny
Our Aunt Corrine and Uncle Jerry were in town for a gymnastics meet at the U. of MN. Actually they just used that as an excuse to drive across the state of WI, really they just came to cuddle.

Having company always makes me sleepy.-Lucy

Having Coco lick my face always give me hives. FYI, my doc said it's all good and I will grow out of this. So no worries Coco, you don't have to move up North!-Marigny

Lucy got another tooth for a grand total of 2 bottom teeth!
Holy-moly, we turned 7 months yesterday! We were so busy playing with our new friend, Kate, that we forgot all about our 7 month birthday! Kate's Mom, Angela, and our Mom were Tree-Top Daycare buddies.

We played with some other friends while we were up North. This is Ellie, she made us laugh by pretending to be a cat. Meow meow. We think that is hilarious!!!

Whodda thunk?!!

Today I am using this blog to hit y'all up for a donation in honor of a fellow twin Mother, Lisa. Nick and I met Lisa and her husband, Bill, in our multiples-birthing class. Less than two weeks before Lisa was expecting the arrival of her twinfant girls, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I will attach her story so you can read her experience in her own words. As rough as I thought we had it, our stay in the NICU and all, I realized that when we got to leave, we would not have to battle breast cancer upon our return home. Lisa has been so brave and strong throughout her treatment, her spirit never ceases to amaze me. Lisa's friend, Tammy, has helped in the fight for a cure for breast cancer by creating "Team Rothschild" for the Mother's Day 5k Race for the Cure. Nick, Lucy, Marigny and I are walking with Team Rothschild to support their team and to honor and remember those who have battled breast cancer. That's you Great Aunt Karen and Kay!! If you are interested in making a donation or want to just want to learn more, here is the link to the donation page:

Thanks in advance for those who are able to help out!

My name is Lisa Rothschild, I am 33 years old, a mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt, and now I am a breast cancer survivor. This is my story.

The year of 2006 would become anything other than ordinary. It started out with happy news from my fertility doctor that I was pregnant. Weeks later Bill and I learned we were having twin girls in October. With every passing month my belly grew and by August I was enormous. Mid September was my goal for the twins and as the days came and went all I could do was focus on making it another day then another week, my babies must stay in as long as they could. Sometime during the month of September I discovered a painful lump in my right breast. I figured it was just a plugged milk duct, but I told my doctor anyways. Not taking any chances, he arranged to have an ultrasound and biopsy done at the University of MN Breast Center immediately. Breast cancer does not run in my family, so I believed there was nothing to be concerned about. On Wednesday, September 27th 2006, I had an ultrasound and needle biopsy done and was told it would take a day or two for the pathology report to come back. I still was not concerned. The very next day I received an unexpected phone call from my ob doctor, I could hear the somber tone in his voice as he asked me how I was doing. My heart began racing as he told me it was cancer, Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma In Situ. My world came to a stop that day, and as I sat alone all I could do was hold my belly and cry. My babies were due in 5 days and in some way I think my life flashed before my eyes. I was in shock and terrified, it took a few minutes to catch my breath and pick up the phone to call my husband home. I also called my mom and asked her to come over right away. I told them. We were all consumed by fear, and we knew nothing would be same again. That next day, Friday, September 29, I met with a breast surgeon to discuss my diagnosis, prognosis and strategy. All the information was so overwhelming; most of it was a blur. I learned that I caught the cancer early and ironically received praise for doing a self breast exam. My prognosis is very good I’m told, I would have a lumpectomy, a Port placed in my chest, chemo therapy and also radiation. I put all my faith in this surgeon, this beautiful person that has come into my world unexpectedly and with such compassion, it could bring you to tears. With the twins due in only a few days, we decided to tell our family and friends, so the weekend turned into an emotional roller coaster of phone calls and visitors.

Wednesday, October 4, 2006, was the happiest day of my life, my daughters were born. Jaydin weighed in at 7#4oz, and Adison weighed in at 7#8oz, big, healthy baby girls. For awhile, life was perfect again and the cancer took a back seat. After a few weeks of postpartum I underwent surgery to remove the lump, had the port placed inside my chest, and two sentinel nodes were removed from my right armpit. With the grace of God, the cancer did not spread to my lymph nodes, but the pathology report came back with bad news, they did not get all of the cancer and after a couple more weeks, I would again undergo surgery to clear the margins. The second surgery was a success and my margins were clear of the cancer. On Friday, December 1, I started my first dose dense chemo therapy treatment, every other Friday for 16 weeks. It was tough, the chemo was hitting me like a semi and I knew I would begin losing my hair. I was one to look at a bald woman and wonder why she had no hair, was it by choice or was it cancer. I was scared, I didn’t want anyone to look at me like that. So to make the transition easier, I hosted a wine (whine) and hair shave party. My closest girlfriends came over, the cutting began and the wine and champagne was poured. We laughed and talked for hours and I learned that I am beautiful to them regardless. Beauty took on a new meaning for me that night, it’s the inner deepest place in your soul, the innocence you are born with.

I have one chemo treatment left on March 16th and then I will begin radiation, everyday for 7 weeks. It has been a tough road and the journey is not over yet, I have been truly blessed with a loving and supportive network of family, friends and strangers. I thank you all. To my husband and my daughters, I am a survivor because of you, I love you dearly.

We have been social butterflies lately which keeps our Mom very occupied so she has a blog backlog. Here are some photos she has been meaning to post.

Last week we went on a walk and played with our gal-pal, Johanna......
Marigny, Johanna, Lucy

The next day our Great Great Aunt Ruth and Great Great Uncle Chuck popped in for a visit. We went for a walk and they even bought us a new toy! Thank you!!

We needed to get away from the city (and help Grandma, Wayne and Barb celebrate their birthdays) so last Friday we went up north to "hang out" in the woods.....get it? Don't groan, that's the best our 7 month old brains can come up with!

Our Mom and Dad were up north too, we are not old enough to drive ourselves yet....

This was Mom's campsite that she and her friends used in high school. Today it was the site for our "picnic" and a rest for Mom and Dad. Grandma was out walking with us too and took all these pictures.....
